Logos Technologies Biosurfactants: NatSurFact® Rhamnolipids
Surfactants are chemical compounds used to reduce surface tension between two fluids or a liquid and a solid. Common applications of surfactants include their use as detergents, wetting and foaming agents, emulsifiers and dispersants.
Rhamnolipids are a class of biosurfactant that are orders of magnitude more effective than conventional surfactants. Logos Technologies has developed highly effective, non-toxic, biodegradable and renewable biosurfactants – NatSurFact® rhamnolipids – that can replace conventional surfactants to improve environmental performance. Small amounts of NatSurFact® can be added to existing surfactant systems producing systems with equal or greater cleaning power.
“Because NatSurFact® has such high activity compared to conventional surfactants, a little goes a long way.”
Logos NatSurFact® Rhamnolipids Features
- Widely applicable: With proven use-case alternatives to conventional surfactants.
- Highly effective: Numerous studies have shown dramatic decreases in surface tension compared to conventional surfactants.
- Highly active: Demonstrating 100-1000 times lower critical micelle concentration than conventional surfactants.
- Renewable and green: Logos NatSurFact® rhamnolipids – composed of two natural sugar molecules, highly soluble in water, and two natural fat molecules, highly soluble in oil – are produced in the United States from naturally occurring organisms commonly found in soil, and from natural feedstocks.
