FAIRFAX, Va., Nov. 4, 2013 – Logos Technologies employees Robert Mock, Jacob Ross and John Banes have each been awarded the NATO International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) Medal for their support of operations at Patrol Base 2 (PB2) in the Nahr-e Saraj district, Helmand Province, Afghanistan.

PB2 was the first of three British bases to integrate the Kestrel wide-area persistent surveillance system, which has seen extensive use on U.S. military bases in Afghanistan. Mock, Ross and Banes operated the aerostat-based system, the only one of its kind, to provides British forces with 360-degree surveillance of a city-sized area, 24 hours a day.

“We’re honored to have received this recognition,” said Robert Mock, site operations lead. “It’s gratifying to know we’ve made a tangible difference in operations and safety at PB2 by helping providing forces in the area there with the information they need to make informed decisions.”

Kestrel’s unique capabilities provide heightened situational awareness, increased threat detection, real-time tracking and DVR-like rewind capability of stored imagery collected.

“We are very proud of our employees’ efforts in Afghanistan,” said Dr. John Marion, executive vice president of Logos Technologies. “While Kestrel certainly provides a significant technological boost to fighting forces’ surveillance capabilities, that does not mean much without the efforts and expertise of our operators and analysts.”

ISAF is a NATO-led security mission in Afghanistan, established by the United Nations Security Council in December 2001. All personnel supporting ISAF operations in Afghanistan are eligible for the NATO ISAF medal.
